Read The Scripts Series Review: Was The Mandalorian Season 3 Good or Bad?

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

A Father and Son on another crazy Adventure

Disney Plus and Lucasfilm Original Series The Mandalorian Season 3 was a very interesting and confusing season, now if you watch The Book of Boba Fett Miniseries the Din Djarin and Grogu story that was told in that series continues throughout this season. The story in this season was a confusing one but I did like most of it, Din Djarin journey to become a Mandalorian again was good and we got more backstory about how Grogu survive Order 66 and getting save by Kelleran Beq. Bo-Katan story about her wanting to become the leader of crew again, getting back the Darksaber, seeing a Mythosaur and having The Armorer tell her that she was going to be the one to bring all of the Mandalorians together was really interesting. The Moff Gideon story about him coming back to continue The Great Purge was good and having him with Beskar Armor and making Force Sensitive Clones was very interesting.

I thought the beginning of Chapter 17 was really good it was nice to see The Mandalorians have this ceremony for one of the young child to become a young Mandalorian and I also like how Din and Grog save all of them from this Dinosaur Turtle. This episode was good and interesting I like that Din was going the find The Mines of Mandalore and The Living Waters to become a true Mandalorian again and It was also good to see Greef Karga and I also like the shootout scene between Din, Greef and The Pirates. I didn't care about them trying to bring back IG-11 but I did like the interaction between Din and Bo-Katan in this episode and the ending was good. Chapter 18 was also good I like that we saw Peli Motto again and she helps Din and Grog by giving them a R5-D4 droid and seeing the both of them go to Mandalore was good. The fight scene in this episode was very good I like how Grog was able to keep himself safe when he was going to get Bo-Katan help to save Din from this Cyborg Spider. I also like how they introduce the Alamites in this episode and I have to say the ending was so good having Bo-Katan see a Mythosaur and not tell Din was really interesting.

Chapter 21 was good I like how they started the story between The Pirates and Greef Karga in episode 17 and pick it back up in this episode, It was nice to see Carson Teva again and I like the conversation Teva had with Colonel Tuttle and Elia Kane. I also like how Carson Teva was able to find the Mandalorians and asks Din to help Greef take back control of Nevarro. I really like the fight scene between the Mandalorians and the Pirates this was done very well and I hope they will bring up how one of the pirate got away in the next season or in one of the other Star Wars Series. The ending was good I like how the Armorer told everyone that Bo-Katan will be the one to bring all of the Mandalorians together, we also see that Carson Teva has found Moff Gideon transport but Gideon is not on it but Teva did find some Beskar Steel on the ship and I thought this was a good way to end this episode.

Chapter 23 was so good I like the beginning and the ending of this episode watching Moff Gideon talking to the Shadow Council was good, when Gideon ask why wasn't Admiral Thrawn at the meeting and nobody didn't give a real reason I thought this was a good scene. Watching all of the Mandalorians go back to Mandalore was good and having some of them run into 3 other Mandalorians who have been living on the planet was interesting. I also like that we got more backstory about what Bo-Katan did during the Night of a Thousand Tears and this part of the episode was really good. The fight scene between Din and some of the Stormtroopers was good but this scene got better after Din gets captured, we see Paz Vizsla tell Bo-Katan and the rest of the group to leave while he stay behind to fight the Stormtroopers and the Praetorian Guards. This was a very good scene and seeing Paz Vizsla sacrifice himself for the group was sad and this was the best ending to this episode.

Chapter 24 was also good I did like how Din was save by Grog in his IG-12 droid that Grog is now able to control, we see Axe Woves try to take out all of the Squadrons that Moff Gideon sent to destroy the Mandalorians ship and this was a good scene. Din and Grog are trying to find Gideon but they find some tanks with Gideon Force Sensitive Clones and Din destroys all of them, we also see the big battle between the Mandalorians and the Stormtroopers and I really like both scenes. The fight scene with Din and Gideon was also really good but the Grog fight scene with the three Praetorian Guards wasn't good, Bo-Katan comes to fight Gideon while Din goes to save Grog and it was nice to see both Grog and Din fight the Praetorian Guards. So we see the Mandalorians ship coming down from the sky and crashes into the base and when Bo-Katan was fighting Gideon he destroys the Darksaber. Din, Grog and Bo-Katan team up together to stop Gideon and he gets caught in the blast but Grog was able to make a Force Shield to keep himself, Din and Bo-Katan safe and they was able to take back their home. The fight scene was good but how they killed Gideon wasn't good and I think the writers should have done it differently. After the battle we see Paz Vizsla son become a Mandalorian, Din adopts Grogu and The Armorer turns on the Great Forge again. Din goes to see Carson Teva for some work and he rebuilt IG-11 to keep Nevarro safe and we see Din and Grog relaxing at their new home. I have to say that this ending was good but I wonder what's going to happen in the next season or in one of the spin off series.

Now I have to say I did not like the rest of the episodes in this season the writing was off for some of them but I really did like the beginning of Chapter 19, the fight scene between Din, Bo-Katan and the TIE Squadron/Interceptors was good. After that scene we get this Penn Pershing and Elia Kane side story and it was not good it look like Kane and Penn was started to like each other and then Penn got set up by Kane and was taken by the New Republic. We also see Penn getting his memory erased by Kane and this episode was just not for me. Chapter 20 was just okay the only thing I like from this episode is that was got more of Grogu backstory and having Kelleran Beq in this was also really good. Chapter 22 was okay but it was confusing I thought it was funny seeing Jack Black and Lizzo in this episode but their characters wasn't interesting and the story was not good at all. I did like watching Din and Bo-Katan working together but this fell like another side story but I did like seeing Christopher Lloyd in this episode he was good.

So I would recommend to watch this season if you haven't watch it already and like I said the writing was off this season but the story was still interesting and I will give it a 7/10
